No. Standard interior venues, hotel lobbies, hospital consult rooms, retail floors, event venues, corporate lobbies, classrooms, accept a Holobox without room modification. Here’s the checklist: power, floor load, ceiling clearance, manageable lighting, and (for live telepresence) network. If your venue is standard commercial interior, you almost certainly already meet all of these.
The room-requirements checklist
- Ceiling height. 220 cm or more (206 cm Holobox plus service margin). Standard commercial ceilings are 240 cm or higher, no issue.
- Floor load. Standard reinforced floors accept the 250 kg unit. Stage placement requires 350 kg minimum load rating for safety margin.
- Route to installation. A path from unloading to installation site that accommodates the crate (approximately 220 cm x 160 cm x 110 cm), through doorways, elevators, and hallways.
- Power. Standard 220V outlet at the installation position.
- Network. Wired 10 Mbps up/down for live telepresence mode. Not required for pre recorded playback.
- Ambient lighting. Standard interior lighting, including daylight-heavy environments. See does a hologram work in daylight for lighting-specific details.
Venue types where holograms have deployed without modification
- Hotel lobbies, CIC Hospitality’s deployment, planned for 30 hotels, covers a range of building types across Scandinavia. No lobby renovation required.
- Hospital consult rooms, standard exam-room dimensions accept the Holobox. Crescent Regional Hospital in Texas runs telehealth deployments in existing consult rooms.
- UN training centres, ITC-ILO Turin runs Holobox training sessions in existing classroom configurations.
- Retail stores, including storefront-window installations. Ceiling height in flagship retail is typically well above the 220 cm minimum.
- Event venues, convention centres, hotel ballrooms, and conference stages. Stage placement requires the 350 kg minimum load rating.
- Corporate lobbies, executive-scale office lobbies for CEO holograms, product hero installations, or brand-hero moments.
When to plan around venue constraints
- Low ceilings. Rooms under 220 cm aren’t compatible with the flagship Holobox. Use the Holobox Mini tabletop unit instead.
- Stage placement. Verify the stage load rating supports 350 kg. If not, the unit places on the ground next to (rather than on top of) the stage.
- Direct sunlight. A west-facing lobby at sunset can have direct light hitting the display face. Recommend either repositioning or applying a light-screening film to the affected windows.
- Multi location rollout. Each venue is surveyed against the checklist before deployment. Our project managers handle the survey remotely (floor plans + photos) or on site if the venue configuration is complex.
