What is a Holobox?

A Holobox is a life-size holographic display built by Holoconnects: a transparent LCD in front of a custom-engineered light box that shows a person, product, or AI character in 3D to the naked eye, with no headset, no glasses and no app. Several people see the effect at once, from multiple angles, in normal light. It is the flagship product of Holoconnects. Below: how it works, how it differs from other "hologram" gadgets, the range, and what it costs.

What a Holobox is

The word "holobox" is often used loosely for any hologram-in-a-box gadget. The Holobox by Holoconnects is a specific, business-grade product: a roughly two-metre transparent display that renders a life-size subject with genuine optical depth. Because you view it with the naked eye, it works where you cannot ask everyone to put on a headset: a hotel reception, a shop floor, a stage, a clinic. For the underlying optics, see what a hologram is.

How a Holobox works

A transparent LCD sits in front of a custom light box. Content plays on the screen while the box supplies the depth and luminance that make the subject look solid, with no projection onto smoke or glass, so it holds up in normal indoor light, including daylight. A Holobox runs three kinds of content: pre-recorded clips, a 4K live two-way connection (a real presenter appears from anywhere), or an interactive AI Hologram. It is plug-and-play: power and an internet connection, set up in under an hour.

What is a Holobox?

A Holobox is a life-size holographic display made by Holoconnects. It pairs a transparent LCD panel with a custom-engineered light box so a person, product, or AI character appears in three dimensions to the naked eye, with no headset, glasses or app. Several people see the effect at once, from multiple angles, in normal lighting.

Is a Holobox a real hologram?

It produces the effect people mean by a hologram: a life-size subject with real optical depth that you view without any device. Technically it is a transparent-LCD display engineered with a light box to create that depth, rather than a laser-interference hologram, which is still largely a laboratory and small-format technology.

How does a Holobox work?

Content plays on a transparent LCD in front of a custom light box; the box supplies the depth and luminance that make the subject look solid. It runs pre-recorded content, a 4K live two-way connection, or an interactive AI character, and is plug-and-play: it needs only power and an internet connection.

How much does a Holobox cost?

The 22-inch Holobox Mini starts at €4,500, The 43 at €9,000, The 75 at €18,500, and the life-size 86-inch Holobox at €25,000; a two-part Hologrid wall starts at €45,000. Every model can be bought, leased, or rented. Content production is quoted separately.

Can I rent a Holobox?

Yes. All models are available to buy, lease, or rent. Rental suits one-off trade shows, events, and activations; buying or leasing suits permanent installations such as a reception, clinic, or showroom.
