Holograms meet art: a Gary James McQueen exhibition

The London-based multidisciplinary artist Gary James McQueen has long worked at the intersection of fashion, film, and digital imagery. For his first solo show in the United States, at West Chelsea Contemporary in Austin, Texas, he chose the Holobox as the canvas.

What the show explores

McQueen's work weaves historical imagery, mythology, and contemporary digital aesthetics. Presenting it as life size holographic figures inside the Holobox gives the audience a depth and presence that flat video can't match, visitors move around the holograms, change their viewing angle, and discover details that only emerge in three dimensions.
